Tankless or tank: which water heater fits your home?

There is no single right answer here, and any plumber who tells you otherwise is selling you something. The right water heater depends on your house, your hot water habits and your budget.
A standard tank heater is simple and cheaper to install. It keeps 40 to 80 gallons hot and ready. The downsides are the standby energy it burns keeping that water warm, and the day it runs out mid-shower because three people went before you.
A tankless unit heats water on demand, so it never runs out and it does not waste energy on standby. It costs more up front and sometimes needs a gas line or electrical upgrade. For a busy household that hates running out of hot water, it often makes sense over the life of the unit.
When we quote a water heater we look at your fuel type, how many bathrooms run at once, and where the unit lives. Then we give you both options with real numbers so you can decide. No pressure either way.
